A weekend in the Dordogne
Time to follow. Drinks and canapés in the square at Eymet, under the arcades of the old bastide town. A relaxed chance to say hello before the day itself — more details to follow soon.
Ceremony at 2pm. Our wedding day at Château Lacanaud. Agenda to follow.
From 11am. A long, easy poolside brunch before goodbyes — come as late as you like.
The setting
An 18th-century château set within a private estate of lakes, woodland and formal gardens in the heart of the Dordogne — the sun-warmed corner of south-west France known as the Périgord Pourpre.
The medieval bastide town of Eymet sits just five minutes away, and it's where the weekend begins — with welcome drinks in the town square on the Friday evening. Saturday then unfolds at the château, and largely outdoors: the lakeside, the gardens, the terraces and the courtyard.
Getting there
Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport is the closest, with seasonal direct flights from several UK airports. A short, pretty drive from there to the château.
Bordeaux-Mérignac has more frequent, year-round flights from the UK and beyond. Best if Bergerac times don't suit you.
A TGV runs Paris → Bordeaux in about 2½ hours, then a regional train on to Bergerac. A lovely car-free option.
A hire car is well worth it for exploring the region — but please plan on a taxi to and from the celebrations themselves. We will be arranging a shuttle service from Château Lacanaud to central Eymet at the end of our celebrations.
Where to lay your head
A limited number of rooms on the estate sleep close family and the wedding party. If a room has been set aside for you, we'll be in touch directly.
There's a wonderful choice of gîtes, cottages, hotels and B&Bs within a few minutes of the château — we've gathered our favourites below, with distances and contact details. August is peak season in the Dordogne, so please do book early.

Anything you're wondering
Our dress code is summer formal — suits for men, no ties required. It will be hot in the Dordogne in August, so choose something light; we'd rather you were comfortable than sweltering. Women should wear full length summer dresses or equivalent — no hats required. Please bear in mind that parts of the day will be on grass, so stiletto heels may not be your friend!
Your invitation will name everyone we've been able to include. The château can only hold so many of us — we hope you'll understand!
Please let us know as early as you can, and no later than the date given on your invitation. If your plans change afterwards, just get in touch.
Please plan to take a taxi to and from the château rather than driving — it means nobody has to worry about getting home, or about how much fizz they've had. Taxis in rural France do need booking in advance — we will soon share recommendations for local taxi companies. We will also be running a shuttle service between Château Lacanaud and central Eymet at the close of our celebrations.
Largely, yes — we expect to hold the ceremony down by the lake, with drinks in the gardens and dinner under the trees. There's shelter on hand should the weather surprise us. Sunglasses and sun cream are both worth bringing.
Simply tell us when you RSVP — there's a box for exactly this. Allergies, intolerances and preferences are all no trouble at all, as long as we know in good time.
Your presence in France is genuinely the present. Should you wish to give something anyway, we'll share details closer to the time.
During the ceremony we'd love you to be fully present with us, so we'd ask that phones and cameras are put away — our photographer will capture everything. After that, please snap away to your heart's content.
Do just get in touch with us directly — there's a message box on the RSVP form, and we're always happy to hear from you.
We hope you can come
